Selection Purpose

The 21st Century Interior Design and Architecture Association (henceforth referred to as “this Association”) has specially organized this award to encourage outstanding architecture and interior design talents, promoting interactions and exchanges within this industry. It invites elites from the field of design from 32 Asian countries to compete for the grand title. This year’s ADA includes two groups: “Residential Interiors” and “Commercial & Public Interiors.” In addition, to encourage the aggressive performance of decorative arts in the field of interior design and talented students, the groups of “Art & Decoration” and “Student Work” are also added. 12 awards will be given out from these four groups.


I. Qualifications

Professionals: All people from the industry including architects, interior designers and company employees can apply.
Students: Resident students from all universities and colleges can apply.

II. Selection Method

1. The participants of this award are decided though “Jury Recommendation”and“Public Submission”.
2. Jury Recommendation:
 A. The host will produce a list of recommended candidates by sorting out all works published on major Professionals interior design media from December 2014 to November 2017 and those recommended by Professionals designers.
 B. The first stage jury will formally recommend several candidates from the list to participate in the preliminary selection along with works through “Public Submission”.
 C. The host will announce the nominees of the first stage. However, the list of recommended candidates and public submission will not be announced.
 D. For recommended works that pass the first stage, the host will actively contact and invite them to take part in the second stage of selection. Interior designers who accept the invitation have to submit a portfolio of their works that meets the same requirements as those applied through “Public Submission”. If the invited designer declines the invitation for entering the second stage, the vacancy will be filled according to the sequence of first stage ranking.
3. Public Submission:
Conducted throughfree “online application”.
 A. Online Application Form for 【Professionals】
  (1) Corporate basic information.
  (2) Work introduction: title of work, designing concept, details on materials used, and details on features of your work.
  (3) Provide 6 on-scene photos for your work portfolio.
  The file format for each photo can only be in “JPG” and should be no larger than 3MB.
  The photos cannot be reprocessed and revised so that they will exactly present the actual design. The photos must completely present the overall picture of your design.
  Only English letters or numbers can be used as the file name and should not be longer than 20 letters.
 B. Online Application Form for 【Students】
  (1) Basic information.
  (2) Work introduction: title of work, designing concept, details on materials used, and details on features of your work.
  (3) Submit 6 3D graphics. Please submit 6 complete 3D graphics, for those who submit less than 6 graphics, their works will not be graded.
  (4) Please enclose hand drawings (no more than 6 pieces) as the reference for the jury. Please provide an appropriate amount of hand drawings and should enclose no more than 6 pieces of them.
  The file format for each photo can only be in “JPG” and should be no larger than 3MB.
  The pictures must completely present the overall picture of your design.

III. Selection Procedure

1. Two-Stage Selection Process
 A. First Stage Selection(Conducted on November 2017)
 - Preliminary evaluation will be conducted by allowing the jury to view the submitted works online.
 - The host will provide information on the submitted works as reference for evaluation for members of the jury. 9 to 15 works will be selected as the works to enter the final stage.
 B. Second Stage Selection(Held on November 29th, 2017)
 - The second stage jury will grade the nominated works and vote for the winning works.
2. Composition of the Jury
 A. First stage jury will be composed of directors of department of interior design in Asian schools.
 B. The second stage jury will be composed of Board Director Liu Yu-Dong of this Association and world-class designers including Chiu Te-Kuang, Tien Chun, Chien Hsueh-Yi, Kinney Chan, Patrick Liang, Mark Lintott, Huang Yung-Hung, Mei Hung-Yuan, Tu Wen-Cheng and others.
